The Fibonacci number sequence is studied as part of number theory and hase applications in the counting of mathematical objects such as sets, permutations and sequences, as well as in computer science.

It was Fibonacci’s belief that Arabic numerals were simpler and more efficient than Roman numerals. He traveled throughout the Mediterranean world and studied under the major Arab mathematicians returning to Pisa around 1200. In the year 1202, at the age of 32,Fibonacci published his findings in The Book of Calculation. In it he showed the practical importance of this new number system by applying it to commercial accounting and to conversion of weights and measures. He also showed how to apply it to the calculation of interest, money changing, and many other applications. The book was well received and had a profound impact on European thought. Despite this, the use of decimal numbers did not become widespread until the invention of printing almost three hundred years later. Fibonacci was honored to be a guest of the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II who was a fan of mathematics and science. In the year 1240 his city, the Republic of Pisa honored him by paying him a salary from the city.

Fibonacci’s numbers are used in the run time analysis of Euclid’s algorithm determining he greatest common divisor of two integers. It was also used by Yuri Matiyasevich to solve Hilbert’s tenth problem. The numbers are also used in a formula about diagonals Pascal’s triangle. He said that every positive integer can be written uniquely in a way as the sum of one or more distinct Fibonacci numbers and in that way the sum does not include any two consecutive numbers, which is called Zeckendorf’s theorem. A sum of Fibonacci numbers that satisfies these ideas is a Zeckendorf representation

The numbers are also commonly found in nature. They have been found in the patterns of leaves, grass and flowers, and branches in bushes and trees. Fibonacci numbers can also be found in the arrangement of tines on a pine cone, in raspberry seeds and other natural sources. Genes too and enzymes often show Fibonacci patterns.

Fibonacci, known in his day and recognized as a genius, was able to see patterns that escaped others. It is only with the modern age of computers that his numbers and patterns can be utilized anywhere near what he envisioned. Fibonacci’s translation of Arabic numerals, replacing the limited and bulky Roman system of numerals, is a debt the entire modern world owes to him. Correlations Defined

Therefore, the GBP/JPY must be slightly correlated to one or both of the other currency pairs. Even so, the interdependence amongst these currencies will stem from more than the fact that they are in pairs. While there are some currencies that will move one right behind the other, the other currency pairs can move in different directions often resulting in a more complex force. In the financial world, correlation is the statistical measure of a relationship between two securities.

Then there is the correlation coefficient that ranges between -1 and +1. The correlation of +1 indicates that two currency pairs can move in the same direction nearly 100% of the time. While the correlations of -1 indicates that two currency pairs are likely to move in the opposite direction 100% of the time. If the correlation is zero, this indicates that the relationships between the currency pairs will be completely at random.

Correlations are not always stable. Correlations change, just as the global economic system and other various factors can change on a daily basis, making the ability to follow the shift in correlations very important. The correlations of today may not be in line with the long-term correlations between any two-currency pairs. This is why it’s suggested to take a look at the past six months trailing correlation to provide a more clear perspective on the average relationship between the two currency pairs. This change is the result of a variety of reasons - the most common reasons being a currency pair’s predisposition to commodity prices, the diverging monetary policies and unique political and economic circumstances.

Ok, so be honest. How many of you thought we were crazy when we said look for mid 1.8700’s. Well, hopefully you caught the bottom of the move from yesterday and jumped on for the ride.

However, don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t get in. Remember, taking no trade is better than jumping into a bad trade for bad reasons. Anyhow let’s move on to the trading outlook for tonight.

Let’s start by determining whether we want to look for a long or short?or both.

Tonight’s chart presents a few problems in our effort to find a trade. Let’s look at a few of them.

First of all, we are in ‘no man’s land’ from the stand point of looking for a short. There aren’t many indicators in this price zone, at least not indicators we look at.

There is, however, some short term reasons to look for a short based on the MACD of the 4 hour chart. But, that’s not much to base your trading on.

Then again, in the spirit of fairness and in our effort to teach you as much as possible in these newsletters, there is a ‘make-shift’ resistance level at around 1.8880. You’ll need a bunch of additional reasons to go short there, so look for quality price action (e.g.: Candlestick formation) to help gauge whether or not you should look to enter a trade around there.

In case that doesn’t give you enough to look for around that price, here’s more. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Cable break above 1.8880 and then run all the way back up to near 1.9000 since there isn’t much resistance in those 120 pips above the level (1.8880).

How in the world are you supposed to use this information to trade? Well, here is just a simple idea. IF you are trading Cable when price reaches this area, pay close attention to the price activity. Look for patterns like double tops or candlestick formations to help you determine if the level is holding as resistance.

If, on the other hand, Cable breaks through relatively easily, maybe it’s best to wait for a pullback in conjunction with price activity and look for a long.

This is a more advanced trading setup since both a long and a short trade COULD be in order at this price level. If you are unsure what to do, DO NOTHING! You should only trade at your comfort level. As far as a support level goes. We’re going to keep watching the mid 1.8700’s again. Let’s just remember that we have seen few legs of a downtrend over the past few days on an hourly chart.

If that pattern continues we could see a lower low than the one that was just formed. For those of you who wan to play it very conservatively, you might now want to look to go long.

Remember, decide what makes the most sense to you. It makes no sense to mimic others trading styles, since their risk tolerance and necessity for profit can vary greatly from yours.

Investing in bonds and the savings bank is safe as we will see. But if you are adventurous you can make a great deal from Forex.

The article is written primarily for the smaller investor who needs high yield, the man who has between, let us say, $5,000 and $100,000. If the $5,000 investor secures a return on his money not of 3%, or $150 per year, but 12% $600 per year his benefit will be material, not nominal.

If the $100,000 investor receives not $3,000 but $12,000 the difference is great enough to mean complete financial independence.

While theoretically the large investor, the one with $1,000,000 and up, does not need to consider such investments, because his $1,000,000 in the savings bank yields him $30,000 a year, or his investment in tax free bonds at 4% yields him $40,000 a year not subject to income tax, strangely enough this is the type of investor who invests the most heavily in the types of opportunities examined in this book. With 1947-1949 equal to 100%, consumer prices rose to 102.8% in 1950. If we consider that at this point in history 1950 we have $102 in the savings bank at 3% interest we can get a strikingly clear idea of savings in a period of inflation. By 1960 in 10 years consumer prices had risen to 126.5%.

Now if the $102 in the bank in 1950 drew 3% interest, after a hypothetical tax of 33%, the owner of the $102 savings account would find by 1960 his account had grown to $122. His interest didn’t even enable him to keep up with inflation. He was actually poorer in 1960 than he was in 1950.

If a person were in the 50% tax bracket 4% compounded annually would amount to the same thing. He would have $122 in 1960, the same amount that the person in the 33% bracket would have with his return of 3%.

Although Forex is much more risky you stand to gain a lot more, but remember that You should not risk more than you can afford to lose.

You will notice that there is a difference between the bid and the offer price. This difference is known as the spread. Based on the previous EUR/USD quote, you know that 1 Euro is equal 1.4625 US dollar.

The way profit is measured of a currency is by ‘pips’ or point. PIP is the acronym for price interest point. If the EUR/USD moves from 1.4625 to 1.4655 that is 50 pips. A pip or 0.001 is the last decimal place of a currency quotation with the exception of the Japanese Yen and Yen cross rates. A price movement for the USD/JPY from 111.10 to 111.60 will be 50 pips.
